OK. Read all of the reviews before purchasing (even the really bad ones), and still I purchased these.Hiked approx. 10 miles a day through the rain forests of Costa Rica for about 2 weeks wearing these. Went through sand, streams, gravel, and paved road, and they stood up well. The ones I purchased did not have an adjustable back strap; however, the fit was perfect. I ordered a half a size larger than I take normally so my toes would not be suck up against the front of the sandal.The lines on the inside of the shoe did not bother my feet as some mentioned in their review. Additionally, there was no delamination of the sole or signs there of.By the end of the journey, they were in near perfect condition and ready for my next adventure.Would recommend.I am a big fan of Keen footwear and it is not easy to find comfortable footwear for me. These sandals really surprised me how comfortable they are. However, I did find they ran big.EverydayI never heard of Akita until now. I have ordered Keen and Merrell for this type of shoe before but they are $99 and up. This sandal was $36 and I would compare them to Keen. Only had them a week but I like them very much. We will see how long they last. Size 12 fit perfectly.I have purchased Keen sandles in the past and thought I would give these a try. They look and feel great and for a fraction of the costs of Keen's!I have used this shoe hiking at Mt. Lassen and Crater Lake with no problem. Good price and quality.WalkingThe toe cap is brown, which is weird because I bought the grey pair. Other than that they are pretty good.
